| AlanBruce07-13-07, 03:47 PM | Greetings. I read back in 2nd. edition, that some divinations that specifically detected alignments (or portions of an alignment, such as chaos, evil, or law), produced a certain color on the subject of said spell. Depending on the color, the caster could ascertain the alignment. I believe i read this in the Aleax entry for PS, but someone mentioned that it worked for divination spells too. If anyone knows of an accurate list of these colors, I would be most greatful. I looked into Manual of the Planes to see the pools in the Astral Plane to give me an idea, but some colors don't match to whjat i read years ago. This is what I remember, if anyone can add more information, that would be awesome: LG - Golden NG - Canary Yellow CG - Rainbow hues LN - Emerald Green TN - Silver CN - ? LE - Deep Purple NE - ?? CE - ??? I may be completely wrong in this one, but if anyone knows any info, you would be helping me a lot. Thank you in advance. |
| tarkin07-13-07, 03:54 PM | You are discussing one of several systems proposed for colors. There is no set system. Make your own up and be happy with the creative freedom the game offers. (Note, I personally like the following: Law: Silver Good: Gold Evil: Red Chaos: Black Then there is associated things that could be detected for Knowledge: Yellow Life: Green Power: Blue Love: White Hate: Purple |
| Sildatorak07-13-07, 03:54 PM | They were generally just two axes. Blue to red for law to chaos and white to black for good to evil. |
| Seeker9507-13-07, 04:01 PM | Not sure what they were, but my gut tells me: CN = grey NE = black CE = blood red I also like tarkin's ideas. |
| periscope07-13-07, 05:01 PM | well if you read descriptions on things like shield of law it would go like this Law: a steady blue light Chaos: an erratically pulsing (think like a dance floor or the lights at a stereotypical rave) yellow light Good: a kind of shining silvery color Evil: a greasy purplish black Law/Good: a mixing of the two, with the blue as a background with silvery specks in it (like stars) Chaos/Good: like a golden and silver flame, flitting between the two. Law/Evil: a steady bluish black barrier Chaos/Evil: a purple flame with specks of yellow that are swallowed up and pop up again True Neutral: Grey any other: the color of the other half of the alignment. |
| Oggutho07-13-07, 05:02 PM | In magic of Incarnum the Soulborn gains powers based on his/her alignment and which cause the characters eyes to glow or become a different color. LG: Gold CG: Green LE: Red CE: Black |
| JulesCARV07-13-07, 05:42 PM | From an old post of mine (http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?t=786768). It might be a bit confusing, though, because the colors are supposed to be continuous. Yellow-Green: CG Green: NG Aqua/Cyan: LG Yellow-Orange: CN Gray: N Navy Blue: LN Red-Orange: CE Red: NE Purple-Maroon: LE |
| TheKeyofE07-14-07, 12:55 AM | JulesCARV, based on your colors you could break it down into axes, too: Lawful to Chaotic looks like blue to orange, and Good to Evil looks like green to red, while neutral is colorless. Thus, lawful good is blue-green, chaotic evil is red-orange, etc. I like this one because blue and orange are complementary colors (IE on opposite sides of a color wheel), as are red and green. |
| JulesCARV07-14-07, 01:00 AM | You just reverse-engineered how I came up with the initial colors ;). |
| ArcTan07-14-07, 01:15 AM | The Manual of the Planes gives the color of each color pool for the various planes. They aren't in a continuous spectrum, however -- the Beastlands and Arborea are right next to each other, for instance, but the Beastlands is emerald and Arborea is sapphire (green or blue). |
