surlykke 04-30-05, 07:21 PM	maybe this is kinda newbie, but after reading some posts on favorit forms for Alter Self, i came to wonder. The description says that it has to be of Humanoid form, so far so good. Then in the read people recommended Ice Mephit and other creatures/races, that has the description: "Outsider". Is an outsider a Humanoid in the concerns of Alter Self ? Since people are suggesting these forms i guess they are, but i need to know for sure, since my DM is pretty strict

Alter self lets you mimic 5hd or fewer races of the same type. If you stick with PHB races you're limited to humanoids (and no templates so lycanthropes are out).
