| Radijs01-23-08, 11:10 AM | A player in my campaign was looking for a new spell which would allow him to re-roll die rolls for himself. He came across Alter fortune from the PHB2 which is level 3, has an XP component of 200 and can force one for himself or anyone else within range of the spell. No save, no SR. I believe he wants to alter the spell, changing its range to personal. And in exchange probably lower the level to 2 and removing the XP cost. What is everybody's opinion on that? I'm rather hesitant to allow it. For the amount of 2nd level spells the bard gets allowing this one seems rather powerful. |

I would not take off the XP penality.... that is part of the "changing history" cost of a spell (almost all spells that change history cost xp)... Even though you are just changing 2 seconds ago... It's too powerful for a 3rd level spell as is, but given that it's there, maybe. He'd still have to spend time researchign the spell and pay the XP cost for that as well (you don't just change spells, the character needs to research the spell to make a modified one) |
