Simple question: do they work together? I.e. I alter myself to a new form which's got dr. Do I get the benefits?
(I used search but got no real answer)

:b: The short answer is No.

If you need more look below

You acquire the physical qualities of the new form while retaining your own mind. Physical qualities include natural size, mundane movement capabilities (such as burrowing, climbing, walking, swimming, and flight with wings, to a maximum speed of 120 feet for flying or 60 feet for nonflying movement), natural armor bonus, natural weapons (such as claws, bite, and so on), racial skill bonuses, racial bonus feats, and any gross physical qualities (presence or absence of wings, number of extremities, and so forth). A body with extra limbs does not allow you to make more attacks (or more advantageous two-weapon attacks) than normal.

You do not gain any extraordinary special attacks or special qualities not noted above under physical qualities, such as darkvision, low-light vision, blindsense, blindsight, fast healing, regeneration, scent, and so forth.
You do not gain any supernatural special attacks, special qualities, or spell-like abilities of the new form.

DR is a supernatural ability

Not always. It can also be extraordinary.

Is there any way to figure out if DR is extraordinary or supernatural? I can't seem to find any definition or rule.

Sometimes its defined in the monster writeup (see the Vampire), and sometimes it's not (see the Skeleton), and sometimes the ability flat-out isn't mentioned at all except in the statblock (see the Zombie).

The MM does however state that DR can be either.

since 3.5 is somewhat vague on the subjec I would go with the 3.0 ruling that it is supernatural (unless noted otherwise in the monster discription, such as the tarrasque's in the 3.0 MM).
