| Nephlite08-02-07, 04:41 PM | If you're a warforged (a living construct) and you cast alter self, do you turn into other constructs? ... Only up to 5 HD limited by caster level, but yes. Finding 5 or less HD Constructs is only limitation. |
| Frogmantis08-02-07, 04:52 PM | hmm, so you could be a medium, large, or small size animated object... but not a homonculus, or a golem. what about polymorph; it specifically states that you can turn into your own type, or one of the following types, etc. that means, you could turn into all the things that any normal wizard could turn into, plus constructs of 15 HD or less. |
| Tedronai08-02-07, 04:54 PM | Damn, I love Warforged |
| Frogmantis08-02-07, 05:01 PM | hehe, yeah, that sounds like an awesome race, if all the rules bend the way they seem to for them. |
| ElIsRa08-02-07, 08:59 PM | Until you realize that you have arcane spell failure. . . for existing. |
| runestar08-02-07, 09:28 PM | If you have XPH, astral constructs are another alternative. You can assume up to the 5 HD version, which grants +10NA, and as a bonus, lets you look like anything you want.:) |
| unusualsuspect08-02-07, 09:32 PM | Hey, that means Ectopic Forms actually have a use now! Since normal Astral Constructs wouldn't grant the Menu choice, you can instead Alter Form into an Ectopic Astral Construct, whose ability isn't a special quality, but rather just an aspect of the AC. Gain flying, or a burrow speed, etc ON TOP OF +10 NA. |
| Frogmantis08-03-07, 01:21 AM | Until you realize that you have arcane spell failure. . . for existing. ...ouch, you're right. damnit. ...guess one could always take a prestige class to fix that... |
| ArcTan08-03-07, 03:11 AM | ...ouch, you're right. damnit. ...guess one could always take a prestige class to fix that... You don't need to be a Reforged. Unarmored Body is a feat. Warforged can turn into other Living Constructs with polymorph, but not into regular Constructs (you can turn into your own Type, but it still has to be "another living creature"). |
| Fireclave08-03-07, 03:24 AM | Add twilight to your composite plating. Problem solved. |
| Frogmantis08-03-07, 03:38 AM | Warforged can turn into other Living Constructs with polymorph, but not into regular Constructs (you can turn into your own Type, but it still has to be "another living creature"). well, but living construct is a subtype. humans can turn into elves. constructs can turn into other contructs, regardless of subtype, according to the exact reading. |
| ArcTan08-03-07, 04:31 AM | well, but living construct is a subtype. humans can turn into elves. constructs can turn into other contructs, regardless of subtype, according to the exact reading. An exact reading reveals that the first line says you can turn yourself into "another living creature". Going by the exact reading, this means you can't turn yourself into a non-living creature, even if it has the same type as you. Which means Warforged can only turn into other Warforged (or another Living Construct, if they ever make one). Polymorph only even works on Warforged because *they* are living creatures -- a Vampire or Homunculus is immune to it, because it says "Target: Willing living creature touched". |
| Frogmantis08-03-07, 04:46 AM | hehe, I'd never known what rules lawyering was until i started playing DnD. but you are correct, hehe, case closed. |
