anyone?

thanks!

at level 10 getting a damage reduction of 5 against all types of damage seems appropriate to me since there is a costly material component involved.

*stamp of approval*

good job, and much less complicated than you shield of faith/resistance spell ;)

thanks ;)

i'm reworking those, i just need to be more specific i guess...

you think it should cap at 5/- or up to 10/- @ 20th?

yes, i think so. Looking at the damage reduction spell for high level characters (lvl 8-iron body) it grants 15/admantine damage reduction as well as a beefy strength bonus and some other goodness as well. trading that out for a universal damage reducer seems fair to me.

IŽd personally cap it at 10/- at 20th level, cos at epic levels this can get way out of hand (picture a DR of 80/- at level 40...).

Well, 4th level spells tend to cap at 12th or 15th level, but DR is almost always in increments of 5. So I'd either cap it at 10th or at 20th; I think 5/- is balanced with 10/adamantine, so cap it at 10th.

How many monsters do you see going around with adamantine weapons anyway? I don't think it matters really.

at level 10 getting a damage reduction of 5 against all types of damage seems appropriate to me since there is a costly material component involved.

DR only works for non-elemental physical damage.

Not too many, but it's not the monsters I worry about.... It's the assasins in the shadows behind me that cause the most worry. And they, most deffinitly, might have adamantine weapons. And quite possibly any number of other DR nullifying weapons...

Or miscelaneous other NPCs with high end equipment. After a certain point, it's not the monsters, technically, one worries about, it's the last generation's ex-adventurers that have gone power mad that are the biggest problems. Although I suppose it could be annoying to run into some experimental druid who has replaced his dire bear's claws with adamantine ones...

But anyway, yes, improving that spell would be much appreciated. Ideally I'd like to see the old Stone Skin return. You know, the one that simply blocks the next (caster level +d4) hits. Regardless of the amount of damage or the type. (only applying to physical damage. aka blunt/piercing/slashing/crushing.

Annoying assasins. Must... Blast.... Shadows... *massive blast of lightning blasts through the shadows behind*
