Alternative Summoning Tables [Archive] - Wizards Community

I'm wondering if anyone knows where I can find alternative monster summoning tables for the Summon Monster spell series. I know I've seen them before, but I can't for the life of me remember where. I've checked various MMs but they're not listed as separate tables there.

Am I misremembering where I've seen them before? Was it v3.0 that they existed and no 3.5?

05-28-07, 01:53 PM there were a few examples of alteranate summoning tables in Unearthed Arcana, and Dragon Magazine had an article on how to construct alternate summoning tables (but I don't remember which issue).

Hmm, I was thinking I saw it in one of the core books since I don't own Unearthed Arcana, or any Dragon magazines :)

Oh well, I guess the base tables will have to do :)

Perhaps creatures of similar CR would be fair to add if I wanted to add other creatures to the summoning lists? For if Monster Summoning I grants 1/3rd to 1/2 CR creatures, adding another creature of that CR would be fair at the DM's discretion?

05-28-07, 10:10 PM Here (http://boards1.wizards.com/wotc_archive/index.php/t-180887) is a link to a (very) old thread which discussed updating the Summon Monster list. Some of the monsters were actually added in published sources, but a little ways into the thread Snow Savant gives a basic summery of the guidelines published in Dragon magazine on how to add to the list.
