My Sorcerer, for reasons I don't want to get into, can't cast Illusion (glamer) spells. This disallows me to learn the ever-useful invisibility and greater invisibility. What are some alternatives I have?

Are the spells still on his list? Buy wands. Otherwise have your party's rogue use the wands.

Well....Darkness is a way to become unseen. Glitterdust, Web, Obscuring Mist, Pyrotechnics, Sleet Storm, Fog Cloud, and Solid Fog can all work too.

You can use the other illusion figment spells.Minor Image for example, to hide behind the image of a tree.

Reduce person can make you less able to be seen.

The low level shapechange spells can also work...look for races with Hide bonuses for racial skills. You can also attempt to blend in.

You can go for the Hide and bluff skills. Take ranks in them. And then cast spells to enhance them.

You can always take the charm route and convince folks you were never there......charm person, hypnotism, daze, suggestion, confusion and such.

You can go the sleep route too, as well as holds and other such charms.

And the old distract trick. Set the hay wagon on fire with burning hands and do your sneky stuff while they are putting it out....

Red I like you!! :D
One of the best ways to become "invisible" is through roleplaying methods like the ones red mentioned. It is also challenging to try to adapt to every different situation than casting always invisibility. You can also try disguise self and with your (I hope) high bluff take the face of one of your enemies and when they wont look at you, you can make them sorry for beeing enemies of you!! ;) :smirk: :fight!: :fight!:

I was thinking Greater Invisibility for the rogue, cause, by the time I would have had it, if my Rogue two-weapon fought, that would equal three sneak attacks per round (+5d6 on each).

For ranged attacks, Rogues can often get as much use out of Tiny Hut as from Greater Invisibility.

Also, at higher levels, YOU (but not the rogue friend), can benefit from Project Image, which is a Shadow effect, not a glamer.

If the question was realy 'how do I help my rouge buddy get sneak attacks', there are plenty of spells that can do that. All you need to do is deny the target the use of thier Dexterity bonus.

Look for spells that cause blindness, stun or grapple.

Or you could just go with the old, attack the same target as your buddy rouge and let him flank.

Gaseous form it is another great spell, being a cloud of gas it is as safe as being invisible.

It is extremely dificult to sneak attack while in gaseous form.

" It can’t attack or cast spells with verbal, somatic, material, or focus components while in gaseous form"

You need to use a to hit spell with silent and/or still and possibly eschew material components as well.

Invisibility???
Simple.

Polymorph into a Willowwisp and use the (Ex) ability of Natural Invisibility.

...

You will also be able to fly perfect 50ft, immune to Magic, and can attack with 2d8 electric damage.

While gaseous form true isnt, but provides a great way to sneak into someone bedroom and proceed to coup de grace him.

obviously invisibility=/=gaseous form, but have several new advantages and disadvantages including fly, passing through most doors and damage reduction.

Both Magic Immunity and Natural Invisibility are Extraordinary Special Qualities, so you don't get them when you polymorph.
