In the text of Alterself, it says you acquire bonus racial feats of the new form.
If you take the form of a Bugbear (which has 2 feats), do you then gain these two feats???

If not, what in the HAY is a racial feat?

A Racial Bonus feat (Not just a racial feat).
Example: Human bonus feat is a racial feat (of your choice) because you alter-self to a human.

Otherwise, the asterick with a (B) in MM shows bonus feats usually.

Like Thri-Kreen: get Deflect Arrows as a racial bonus feat.

So if your a Human and you Alterself into another Human, do you get the Bonus feat?

In theory you would for the spells duration gain a spell in this way......

So if your a Human and you Alterself into another Human, do you get the Bonus feat?Yes, technically. But a human does not have a specific feat that it gains. I would rule that you simply keep the racial bonus feat you chose as a human in the first place. "In-game" this ruling would be explained as the spell takes the path of least resistance. :D

Yeah, it is much better for non humans: Finally a good reason to play a 1/2 Elf (so you can get a bonus feat temporary as an alterself human)

But you're not gaining 1st level as a human: you're temporarily transforming into human form. So aren't you technically missing out on that part of your life "as a human", and therefore not qualifying for the human's "extra feat"?

It doesn't make much sense to grant yourself any feat you want just because you now look like a human.

A lot of things about Alter self don't make much sense...

For example, why does changing into an elf suddenly let you use a longbow?

I don't know. Why does every (non-drow) elf in the multiverse know how to use a longbow?
