Am I doing this right? [Archive] - Wizards Community

01-02-04, 07:48 PM I have a 6th level mage and I want to craft a wand of Fireball. The cost of this is
6x3x750 for 13,500 as in the PHB or is it 6x3x375 for 6,750 in the DMG? Also, the xp is 1/25 of this price? Thanks.

01-02-04, 08:59 PM x750 gives you the base price, aka market value. Per the PHB, to craft the wand cost 1/25 the base price in XP, and raw materials equal to half the base price (the x375 listed in the DMG.)

01-02-04, 09:35 PM Ahhh so to CREATE the wand it's the lesser value. If I wanted to BUY the wand I'd use the higher value. Makes sense to me now. Sadly, it's still too much either way. :D

01-02-04, 10:00 PM Also, you can craft that particular wand as a 5th level caster, reducing the cost. That would produce a market price of 11,250 and a creation price of 5625.
