I'm having a disagreement with my DM regarding the Magic Vestment spell. [Backgroud] I'm playing a 23rd level cleric and have +1 platemail of Heavy fortification. [/Background] IF I cast MV on my armor it increases the bonus from +1 to +5. My DM is saying that because the armor is already magical it it not eligible for the MV spell. Just looking for some rules clarification here. If anyone could provided a reference to were it says this is leagl could you let me know.

Note* please no "get a new DM reply's" he seems pretty good, and is not nessisarily dis-allowing it, just challenging the letter of the rule.

Thanks

As long as the bonuses don't stack it seams resonable by the RAW...no mention of only usable on non-magical armor from the spell description...

SRD of Spell

Magic Vestment
Transmutation
Level: Clr 3, Strength 3, War 3
Components: V, S, DF
Casting Time: 1 standard action
Range: Touch
Target: Armor or shield touched
Duration: 1 hour/level
Saving Throw: Will negates (harmless, object)
Spell Resistance: Yes (harmless, object)

You imbue a suit of armor or a shield with an enhancement bonus of +1 per four caster levels (maximum +5 at 20th level).

An outfit of regular clothing counts as armor that grants no AC bonus for the purpose of this spell.

Ringrose is right.
Nothing prevents you from using this on magical armor or clothing.
Just no stacking.

DM = Wrong
You = Right

At least until he house rules it.

Thanks for the quick replies. I think part of this is that he feels that it will somehow unbalance the game. My point is if you're looking for things that might unbalance an epic game, MV should be the least of your worries. ;)
