Hi,

I just saw that the spell amanuensis in magic of faerun is a level 3 spell.
This is not changed in the corresponding official errata to that book.

But in the spell compensium it is a level 0 spell.

I find this quite a drastic difference.
My personal opinion is that it is much better off as a level 0 spell since it is mostly trivial.
But I can't find any official source for making it level 0.

Has anyone a good official reference of the current v3.5 level of this spell?

the spell compendium is the must up-to-date official source.
It is now a lvl-0 spell.

ditto.

Use the level as it appears in whichever book you own. If you own both, use the level (and everything else for it) from the most recently published book.

I think, but am not sure, that it had abilities to copy magical writings in the old 3rd level version.

I think you're right. If nothing else, it could be used to copy a spell book. I would rather use a higher level slot and retain that ability, but such is life.

What confused me is why Bard's dont get this spell on their list... Information, books, communication-- all those themes are central to many bards and sage builds. Id love to see it for a Bard.
