| Kilsek of Sheverash03-04-04, 11:20 AM | The monk's #1 combat efficiency is melee, but his ability scores are the most demanding in the game, he has an average BAB, not a good BAB, and his ranged weapon selection is very poor. So trying to improve on the monk's alleged strength in combat is already difficult. With the goal of making the monk a more effective attacker in combat (i.e. hitting more often, dealing more damage, close to on par with good BAB classes), what can be done with the AoMF itself or its power to make it a more reasonable magic item for the monk to invest in? I think the AoMF, or something like it, can go a long way in making the monk a more reliable meleer, and is one of the best ways for him to get a nod among his melee-ing peers who are brandishing beautiful, shiny, magical weapons. Triple-price seems too much for the AoMF, and, as many have suggested, taking up a very valuable magic item slot. Wouldn't gloves of mighty fists be just as valuable, and why not the same cost? Anyway, I'm looking for any input and alternatives to not begging for Greater Magic Weapon or Fang everyday from the spellcasters while the fighters and clerics run around easily with their +4 weapons at reasonable prices. Do you think AoMF is overpriced? Do you think AoMF isn't that necessary for an effective melee-ing monk? Thx! |

Not just one attack, but all, even when you Flurry or use secondary. Effectively it enchants both your primary weapon and your off hand weapon. 2) Amulet of Mighty Fists does not over-ride other enchantments placed on you. Say you want to make a flaming, Frosting, Shocking attack. If you have a sword you could get a flamign sword, price 32,000 gp. If you wanted a flaming, frosting, shocking monk attack you could get: Gloves of Flaming +1 Cost 8,000 Amulet Frosting +1 cost 8,000 Bracers of Shocking +1 cost 8000 total cost = 24,000 gp. See the savings? The reason why the AoMF is so expensive is to stop this kind of abuse. |
