I wondered something..

A spell that is a conjuration cast outside an antimagic field (like Melf's acid arrow) can enter the area and do the damage. However, Evocations do not.

Meaning that a fireball centered right at the border of the antimagic field will damage everyone within his reach but not other peoples.. The spell-effect will not get inside the antimagic field.

However, if I have a staff with a Light spell on it, and I am standing right at the border of an antimagic field. Does the (magical) light effect enters the antimagic field? Meaning that for someone standing inside the field, would he see my staff shine? Or would he, instead, see nothing at all out of the ordinary, since the light effect doesn't reach his eyes?

Let's talk about a Darkness effect. It's not the same thing, since Darkness stops the light, magical or not. The darkness area would not enter the antimagic field, but no light would traverse it to reach someone inside the antimagic field.

Let's get back to the Fireball spell said earlier. A fireball produce 3 effects, but only 1 is damaging:

- Superheat (known as Fire)
- Light
- Sound

Someone standing inside the antimagic field would not be affected by the Fireball, even if it exploded right by him. But would he hear it? Would he see it? The light effect is produced by an evocation spell, and spell-effects doesn't enter the antimagic field..

Would someone feel the relents of heat coming from outside the antimagic field?

FORGET ABOUT CONJURATION.

That is a stupid mistake that people made.

It is not the fact that something is a conjuration that lets it go into an anti-magic field. There are many conjuration spells that do NOT work in an anti magic field. The spell Maze and Mass Cure Critical on undead are two of the core spells.

It is the fact that they are not having magic directly applied to them.

There are even evocation effects that can be used to damage people inside an anti-magic field.

The standard one is the spell Earthquake, cast outside the anti-magic field.

A major requirement is that the spell say SR:No. That means that magic might not directly affect the target.

Continual Flame says SR: No. It's light is not magical, and will enter Anti-Magic, but light from a Searing Blast spell will not.

Note, if you take the Continual flame target into the anti-magic area, it will go out.
