| Legacy-Warrior02-27-04, 02:49 AM | What attributes should I place upon the longsword of my ancestors(aka Awaken)? Catch is this: This character is not about numbers with exception in trying not to be totally useless. I want what will quite possibly be the most creative suggestion for my character's already built, yet open-ended, backstory and future story. Relevant info for those with a balance of price knowledge and creativity are below. Bard2/Rogue1, Human The DM has allowed me to forsake all but 200 gp in wealth to begin with a book I stole from my now deceased guardian. The book is inherently evil and contains dark secrets... what exactly I dunno. The DM will have fun deciding how it impacts my character, he's a cool and fairly creative guy like that. Feats: We're allowed 1 feat that our group considers to be something "Inborn" for extra flavor. Nothing like combat oriented feats or metamagics or skill focuses. Generally the name is the best indicator, mine is SCP-Bard. Bardic Spell Casting Prodigy-> Inborn aptitude towards the song... unknow yet that this serves secret songs of dark power. Skill Focus: Knowledge- Religion-> This is for when I begin to unlock the secrets held within the book and will then progress in the Pale Master PrC. (As I said, about numbers as little as possible.) Obscure Lore-> Time spent researching my heritage and the book have resulted in strange discoveries. Ancestral Relic-> The completion of a disturbing figure with a voice that is of ghosts and the banshees. |
| Vorpal Warhammer02-27-04, 09:49 AM | Do you mean the Ancestral Relic feat from Book of Exalted Deeds? You'll lose access to that as soon as you start doing evil deeds. All Exalted feats require a code of conduct similar to a paladin. |
| Goreg Skullcrusher02-27-04, 10:49 AM | Except, unlike 95% of the feats offered in the book, Ancestral Relic is a General feat. So he's not inclined to lose it for any acts of genocide he may have planned. :D |
| Legacy-Warrior03-01-04, 11:40 AM | Anybody? *bumpishness* |
| Legacy-Warrior03-03-04, 02:07 AM | Bump... but for a reason... 49 of you have looked at this but only 2 responses... Is there perhaps a better place to post this? |

You just don't have to be exalted good. ---------------------------- Depends, what does the sword represent for your character? Is it an ancestral weapon? Ancestral Heirloom? Ment for combat, utility what exactly? Does it have an alignment or does the sword represent some alignment like the book? I'd start with it being +1 to get the ball rolling however. |
| Thelon Fairblade03-03-04, 11:04 AM | Actually, I think he said the Relic was not a weapon, but "a disturbing figure with a voice that is of ghosts and the banshees." So therefore, it is a Wondrous Item type object, not a weapon. I'd go for some minor sound-based powers, with limited daily use. Say Cause Fear 1/day, Sound Burst 1/day, Spook 1/day. Or, something straightforward like "+1 caster level, bard spells only, only spells that rely on sound to work" (like comand words, sonic effects, etc.) |
