one of my players brought this up:

Are there any FAQ's on this spell?

it states you get a +6 to strength, and also says you get it ALSO while grappling, etc. But it does not say ONLY during.

So is this +6 strength spell intended to only work on unarmed attacks? Or will it work if someone has per se.. a dagger in thier fist? Or a bladed gauntlet?

The wording of the spell has been read very carefully and doesn't state that its just for unarmed, it says its allows you to also do unarmed slam attacks.

If there is a pointer/link for this, pop it up here, otherwise.. tell me what your rulings are?

In my opinion I am almost willing to allow it as a replacement for a bulls strength (and used with combat rules as such) since it has nowhere near the lasting power of bulls strength, cannot be permanancied. Let me hear your opinions on this spell.

Fist of stone is a very good first level spell particulary at low levels, Due to its fixed one minute duration it is not as impressive at later levels but still very nice.

As i understand the spell you get +6 strength for all actions such as standard melee attacks (both with weapons and with slams) grappling and break dc, By a very strict reading of the spell it might be argued that you do not gain any extra carrying capacity personally i would not bother much about that as the duration is only a minute.

As for using it as a replacement for bulls strength ... well that is purely a matter of taste, if you feel that the duration of bull`s strength makes it unbalanced then fist of stone may be a viable alternative however do not forget that the other stat enhancing spells as owl`s wisdom have no spellls that corresponds to fist of stone to replace them.

My opinion is that it is no where near a replacement for Bull's Strength. Fist of Stone can only be cast on yourself.

its my idea that any attacks, such as hitting grappling bullrushing, that are done with the FIST get a +6 to str. but holding a dagger in said fist dosen't give you the bonus. but thats my oppinion

I play it that the Warmage who casts this is granted a +6 to STR for one arm (in effect, his/her fist). This plus to hit and damage takes effect for any attacks made with that arm only whether it be with the fist or with a weapon.

The other arm is normal.

Fist of stone is, in my opinion, one of the 'must-have' spells for warriors of various types 'dipping' only a couple levels into arcane casters (the other is obviously true strike). If I were playing a sorcerer/monk, I would grab those two spells. That is unless I wanted to play a mario clone of sorts, in which case I would grab jump, enlarge person, and lesser fire orb. But that is just silly :P . In any case neither class lets you get a yoshi animal companion. Did I stray too far off topic?

I do agree that judging by the picture you only get a boost to your hand , But the description of the spell states that you get a +6 strength bonus to your attacks.

It in no way specifies that this bonus applies only to the slam attack or that it only applies to one arm and that is something that would have been essential to mention.
