| Lord Otaku08-18-06, 07:50 PM | I've been interested in using this spell, but I have a question about adding or subtracting Hit Dice from the creature being altered. Polymorph has the restriction that the creature's Hit Dice can not be higher than the caster's Hit Dice or the creature's (the default being the lowest) but Polymorph Any Object does not clarify the Hit Dice of the transformed creature. I assumed you could add Hit Dice, as you can turn a pebble into a human being in one of the charts, or a shrew into a Manticore (sp?). This wasn't addressed in the errata on this site. Any thought or suggestions? |

Your hit dice is one of the things you retain while polymorphed, so a manticore turned into a shrew would have manticore hit dice. When it comes to inanimate objects it becomes a bit more tricky, I would wager that when transforming an inanimate object like a rock into something with hit dice, it has normal hit dice for a creature of that type. |
