In various works of fiction there are swords that release a "wave" when swung that allows them to attack at a range, I was wondering if an ability for that effect was ever published.

PS, in Arthurian legend Excalibur was said to blind Arthur's foes when first drawn from it's sheath, are there any published abilitys that do that?

An Everbright weapon is immune to rust and acid and can blind foes 3 times/day.

As for the wave...
The spell effect most fitting is Cyclonic Blast (Spc, Sor/Wiz 5), so I'd either use the Somatic Weaponry feat and cast it or just use some ranged weapon attack (Throwing+Returning) and describe it as a wave. Also, the Bloodstorm Blade (ToB) has class features that allow you to make ranged attacks as melee attacks, so it might well look like a wave.

Just make a +2 enhancement to allow an attack at range with force damage, but no other enhancements.

What version has Excalibur doing that? The only special ability I remember Excalibur having was that it was unbreakable.

If by wave you can agree to just attacking people at range, the Telekinetic Boomerang power does the same thing with psionics.
