I need help with this spell. In the Oriental Adventures guide, it says that the shaman get that spell. However it doesnt have the spell in the book or in the players handbook. I need to know the exacts for the spell in order to continue my campaign. Any help would be appreciated greatly. :D Thanks.

Animal Friendship is a version 3.0 spell, and you can find it in the 3.0 PHB or the online 3.0 SRD somewhere.

The OA book was printed during version 3.0 days. If you want to update it, you should just replace it with Charm Animal to maintain that it is a level 1 spell. Most of the other spells in OA have been reprinted in Complete Arcane or the Spell Compendium, but unfortunately the Shaman class has not been reprinted.
Animal Friendship is fairly overpowered though, it is basically Animate Dead for animals as a level 1 spell with no expensive components.

There is a semi-official update for OA to version 3.5 in Dragon Magazine #318. It doesn't seem to mention a new spell list, but the Shaman gets an unarmed damage progression akin to as if they had the feat Superior Unarmed Strike. You can download that issue for about 4-5 dollars at Paizo.com.

It is written by the main author of the OA book, and is a good investment if you want to use OA with version 3.5 rules.

Animal Friendship is the roleplaying way a pre-3.5 character earns his/her animal companion.
Do Shamans have animal companions? If they do, just add the 3.5 druid ability and drop the spell.

acttually the shaman was re-printed in the Complete Divine for 3.5. It is very close in text to the origional Shaman from 3.0 OA, however they nerfed the shamans animal companion. It does not scale like a druid's AC does.

If I remember well (don't have books at hand), that is the Spirit Shaman, which is not the same. Or is it? (never used OA, btw...)

The "Spirit Shaman" is the class in Complete Divine, not the "Shaman". The classes are actually quite different, though the Spirit Shaman seems to incorporate a bit from the Shaman and Druid classes.

A Shaman is almost a Cleric, and the Spirit Shaman is almost a Druid.

Spirit Shaman = spirit guides, druid casting, control over spirits.

Shaman = Hybrid between pretty much every divine class out there and the monk. Casts cleric-style spells (has domains, (up to THREE at later levels), including a few unique ones, but can't turn undead until later levels), has something like Divine Grace and Animal Companion*, and has a pseudo-unarmed-strike element (it gained Improved Unarmed Strike as a bonus feat and had a few other bonus feats to spend on martial-arts feats).

They're alike in name alone, pretty much.

* Animal companion was equivalent to "could cast animal friendship" in 3.0. That's why druids got it at level 1 and rangers at level 4 -- they were assumed to cast that spell between level-ups and get an animal companion.

I will point out that in the 3.5 update by James Wyatt, Shamans do not gain an Animal Companion ability, just unarmed strike damage. I think you should put it out of your mind.
