Question regarding the spell Animal Messenger: From the SRD description the last sentence in second paragraph..
"The animal then goes to the designated location and waits there until the duration of the spell expires, whereupon it resumes its normal activities."

Now the duration is one day/level.

Does this mean that when you enchant the Tiny creature, it will go to the location specified and then the duration starts while it waits for the receipient to notice it, or does both travel and wait time have to be within the duration?

If you send an animal, how many hours per day will it travel? If I choose a hawk, who's fly speed is 60', will it only travel 8 hours per day as the normal movement chart shows?

Thanks in advance.

1) The duration starts when you cast the spell, not when the creature arrives. Travel and wait time must both be included.

2) A hawk with a speed of 60 will travel at the 'walk' speed for 8 hours, making 48 miles. He will not Hustle (taking damage) and he must spend some time finding food.

Hehe, for those of caster level 20 it might be more 'humane' to lower caster level or the poor animal might die of starvation ;)
