| CelestialBarbarian02-05-07, 09:52 AM | The text of the animate breath spell, which appears on pages 12-13 of the Spell Compendium, does not specify whether the caster can create only one elemental per casting, or one elemental per use of a breath weapon during the spell's duration. A dragon using the spell might, for instance, get to use its breath weapon multiple times during the casting of the spell. My initial inclination is to allow the creation of only one breath elemental per casting of the spell, but I don't really see anything in the text one way or the other. What do you think? Have you used the spell at all? Thanks! :) |

Once it's cast, the spell resolves and you have an elemental from your breath now animate by the spell. Using your breath weapon later will NOT create another one. This is just how i see it though, that and i don't have any books with me at the moment (although i do know the spell, just not incredibly well) to give any actual rules or statements about it. That being said, what if bahamut used this spell? Would he have a disintegration elemental? Because that would be pretty awesome. :D |

I know he used to in editions gone by. :D It's still only a huge elemental, so Bahamut's breath elemental wouldn't be any better than the breat elemental of the very young silver dragon cohort with the party in my campaign. :( Edit: In the 3.0 Deities and Demigods, Bahamut does have a cold breath weapon too. |
