im currently playing a true necromancer and im trying to figure out the maximum number of HD that i can control at my level, my level being wiz2/clr3/true necro6, my effective wizard level is 7 +4 from practiced spell caster, and my effective cleric level is 7. so here is my dilemma, if i cast animate dead as a wizard i can control 52hd of undead (7wiz, +4 practiced spell caster, +2 necromantic prowess * 4HD), but if i cast animate dead as a cleric i can control is 36 (7clr, +2 NP * 4HD), so do those stack (88HD of undead) or do i use my wizards maximum control level (52HD)? the reason i ask is cause the spell states that i control based off my caster level, so what do you do with the same spell but two different caster levels. thanks in advance.

Caster level from different classes is generally kept separate. Thus, if you know both the wizard and clerical version of the spell Animate Dead I would say you can control 88HD of undead total. 52 HD from the wizard spell and 36 HD from the cleric spell.

+ that from create Undead (spell like ability) you can create an extra of 44 hd.

note that you should keep seperate lists of undead created under what class though, and not just say 88 HD total, for example if you have 50 HD of undead under your wizard list, and 32 under your cleric list, (giving you 6 total HD of undead left to control) you can not freely animate and control a 5HD creature as a skeleton, because you do not have enough HD left in either class to cover it.
