| Vharuck10-05-07, 05:00 PM | I think they should get animate object, too. However, I do find it funny that you argued how this particular magical rule isn't "logical." Logic and magic don't mix well. :P |
| Xiuhcoatl10-05-07, 05:09 PM | Well, in some sense, it's true: animating objects is very characteristic of wizards. The Sword in the Stone? The Magician's Hat? I always thought it odd that wizards and sorcerers were unable to animate objects. |
| mvincent10-05-07, 06:25 PM | Why can't Wizards & Sorcerers cast Animate Object? While I agree completely, a possible reason might be that animating an object is essentially imbuing it with positive energy (similar to how a Ravid (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/monsters/ravid.htm) does)... and Wizards aren't known to be good with using positive energy (otherwise they could heal people). |
| ArcTan10-05-07, 06:51 PM | I've always thought a better way to do the whole "What school is healing?" thing would be to pluck out all the spells that deal with Postive Energy and Negative Energy and put them in one big school called "Theurgy", to signify that they're dealing with spiritual forces and that Clerics specialize in this kind of magic. It makes more sense than calling healing spells "Necromancy" or randomly dropping them in Conjuration. |
