Animate Vampire? [Archive] - Wizards Community

11-01-07, 04:41 AM It's just a more powerful version of Create Undead... the Epic Seed does that, but I can't remember any spells that create a vampire before epic level.

11-01-07, 11:39 AM Ya the epic handbook is where I got the Idea (Animate Dead Seed DC: 23 (Min Level when taking a ten level 10 spwning vampires adds 6 to the dc so it level 16 becomes the minimum (this is based off of a Sorcerror according to the epic handbook) so I was figuring it would be safe to assume it would be safe to assume it to be an 8th level spell (At level 16 sorcerrors gain their first lvl-8 spell slots). I also figured there should be a costly Component cost.
Create greater undead (also lvl-8) requires a 50gp/HD onyx gem. So i figured it would be best to place vampire as an option with wraith (available at CL 16) so i fgure it could be semi balanced but then when I look at the Epic Handbook a Wraith isn't worth a Vampirethere is a DC 8 difference (thus 8 level difference if you my prior assumptions on DC based on CL-13 I don't know if it's balanced the majopr thing I figured was a threat with a vampire is he can create and control spawn but so can the wraith all in all I judt don't know. So if anyone has an Idea of whether it is balanced or how it could be balanced?

Consider this what I would have written the first time but I was tired.

11-01-07, 04:39 PM Well, I recently unleashed a simulated vampire on the party using the spells Kiss of Vampire and Fangs of the Vampire King, which will give you the bite attack, spell-likes, DR, as well as weakness to cure spells and turning. You could probably also add on Bull's Strength and Nerveskitter for the extra strength and improved init. I had to slightly alter the target of Fangs (originally personal) and the duration on Kiss, but otherwise it really messes with the party's mind when they discover the person they killed was NOT a vampire and (the way I ran it) under the effect of Dominate Person. :devil:
