I'm basically just wondering what the rule is regarding negative energy and the undead. The handbook states that the wizard's "negative level" spell...starts with an "E" but can't remember off-hand grants undead 1D4 x 5 temporary hit points for I believe one hour. Is this the case with the Warlock's Utterdark Blast...and if so, does it stack? I can see the argument on why you wouldn't want it stacking but I can find nothing on the subject.

I believe the spell you are looking for is Enervate. As for stacking, I'm not sure. I would look to positive energy based spells which add temp HP and compare their rulings on stacking.

By-The-Book, I don't see anything anywhere that says Temporary HP's don't stack. However, this can be abused a bit too easly(Think of a wand of Aid or False Life..you could charge up like 100's of Temp. HP's). A house rule could be --Max Temp. HP is twice your normal HP.

Note that a Utterdark Blast is not Temp HP, but 'healing' to undead. So the normal healing rules apply.

I don't question the healing the undead part. My question pertains to the "two negative levels" one takes when hit with Utterdark Blast. I assume they don't gain levels everytime they get hit. The closest I could find was the Enervation spell that temporarily decreases your level. It states at the very bottom that undead gain 1D4 x 5 hit points for one hour. I figure the same should happen to any undead you hit with Utterdark Blast.

I'm no expert, but I'd allow it to stack. If you SEE it being abused, impose a limit on your PCs. I don't think limits should be imposed because they CAN be abused, only if they ARE. If you impose limits because you think someone MIGHT abuse it, you're basically acusing them of thought-crime.

Just because one or two spells have an effect, does not say that every type of magic similar to it should or would have that same effect. Undead don't get Temp Hp if they touch a SpiritWall, for example. There is no offical rule that says 'to undead a negative level = X amount of Temp. HP's.' So if you say that it's a HouseRule.
