11-20-04, 10:27 AM in the PHB, pg 52 (and the SRD) it says

"Hit Dice: For the purpose of effects related to number of Hit Dice, use the master's character level or the familiar's normal HD total, whichever is higher."

Does this mean that as a wizard levels up, their familiar gains skill points, feats, and ability increases? Those things are "related to the number of Hit Dice" the creature has.
