| elven warriorXX12-21-05, 08:32 PM | FIREWORKS Evocation [Sonic] Level: Sor/wiz ? Components: V, S, M Casting Time: 1 standard action Range: Medium Area: 20ft Duration: Instantaneous Saving Throw: Ref half (for damage), Fort (for 2nd effects). Spell Resistance: Yes You throw a firey missile that hits its mark it and explodes, dealing 6d6 damage (half fire, half sonic). To hit you must make a ranged touch attack on the target, If you are fireing at a empty square then the AC is 10. If you miss the Missile flys by the target and keeps going untill it is as far as it can go (if it misses it moves at 40ft per round) then it explodes. All in a 20ft radius take damage and are knocked prone, dazziled, and deafened (1d4 rounds). Those that are up to 30ft away from the explosion are only dazziled and deafened and those that are 50ft away are only deafened for 1 round. All who make ther Ref save in the 20ft radius only take half damage and are not knocked prone. Those that make there Fort save are only daziled and Deafened for 1 round. What you think :D Also please tell me what level it should be |
| Seeker9512-21-05, 09:06 PM | 1. Remove the word fire from the name of the spell. It is misleading. 2. Your final radii expands too fast. I would make the 100' only 50' (see below) 3. I assume this requires a ranged to hit? What happens if you miss? 4. What's the material component? 5. If it is SR, why would it cause any bludgeon damage? 6. If it is causing deafness, why no [sonic] damage? 7. Does the struck target get knocked prone? You have a good start going here. Fill in some of the blanks, and then we could work on a level. |

Okay what should the new name be? A spell called Works does not sound right lol 2. Okay fixed 3. That is a good idea. I was gonna have it just be like fireball and hit the target nomater what but a ranged touch, that if you miss it goes as far as it can go and explodes, fits the Firework flavor. 4.I am trying to think of a good one :D 5. Okay it now deals half Force and Half Sonic (or maybe it should do fire?) 6. Made it do sonic damage. 7. Any target that is in 10ft is knocked prone in the closest square out of the 10ft radius. Yes the target flys back and is knocked prone too. |
| Secrets Untold12-21-05, 10:07 PM | Heres an idea for a name: [insert name here]'s Pyrotechnic missle |
| Seeker9512-21-05, 10:14 PM | I'm still liking this. I've taken the liberty of re-writing the descriptive text: You throw a missile that hits its mark it and explodes, dealing 6d6 damage (half force, half sonic). All in a 10ft radius take damage and are knocked prone. All in a 20' radius are deafened for 1d4 rounds. All in a 30ft radius are dazzled for 1 round. Everyone within 50ft of the blast is deafened for 1 round. The only mechanics change I made in this is in regard to the prone effect. Adding a knockback effect just causes a few too many mechanics issues in a crowd. As a DM, I hate multiple target knockbacks. Too many details to resolve. However, knockback does fit the concept. I just like knockdown better. As for a name: Soundbite. (cheesy :D ) |

I am kind of basing the knockback effect of the Metamagic feat in CA called Explosive spell which blows people out of the radius and they fall prone. Yes short of cheesy :D but still good. I like Pyrotechnic missile thought. Changed the radius from 10ft too 20ft (tell me if i should change it back) and fixed it a bit. Name is still pending |
| mushraeddur12-22-05, 12:16 AM | name: concusive (spelling?) force ball maybe? or concusive force blast |
| Leress12-22-05, 01:40 AM | what about naming it Blast Bomb? |
| elven warriorXX12-22-05, 09:37 AM | what about naming it Blast Bomb? Not bad :) But I like the sound of Pyrotechnic force blast. Maybe this spell should do some fire damage. It would fit the theme well. |

What if you drop the force idea for fire (mixed fire and sonic damage?) You get the flavor youre looking for, and it will probably end up being a lower level spell, as force (in my opinion) tends to merit a higher level. Plus, youve already got sonic, so you dont really need the other best damage type. My question though is this: what happens in an area protected by Silence? Clearly, they would take only half damage from the blast, and the deafening would seem to be out, but what about the dazzle and knockdown effects? |

If silence then no one suffers the Deafened effects. Dazziled is from the spray of colors (like a real firework), and the knockdown effect is from the huge blast when it goes off. Even with Silence the force of the sound will knock prone anyone in a 20ft radius of the target. Okay edited a bit more |
| elven warriorXX12-22-05, 05:05 PM | Okay i think its pertty well done :D All we need to do is find a good level to put it at. I may let Spellcaster get and extra dice every 4 levels or somthing like that (just to make it useful at high levels). |
| elven warriorXX12-24-05, 12:21 PM | The shame :bump: |
| elven warriorXX12-26-05, 09:40 PM | :bump: I am thinking around 5th/6th level? Will that work? |
| Seeker9512-26-05, 09:49 PM | I think 5th is okay. It does less damage than a 3rd level spell, but more effect in a wider area. |
| elven warriorXX12-26-05, 11:03 PM | I have been thinking. How about it effects all in 10ft radius. And every like 5 levels you can fire another Firework. Thanks :) You can put what you think about this new idea too. |
