On a successfull Fortitude save, the target resists being knocked back but still takes damage. If the target is knocked back against a wall, he is now prone.
drunktemplar 08-22-05, 03:52 PM	I think the Fortitude save should be against the knock-back effect, actually, and there needs to be either a touch attack or a reflex save against the lightning damage (for half). It seems like a "touch attack" version of a lightning bolt with the damage cap increased to 15d6 and an extra effect (which in certain cases can be extremely nasty - knocking someone off a cliff anyone :) ), so this should be a lvl 6 or 7. I'd say 6, because the effects are not as immediately devastating as a Finger of Death (which if memory serves is 7th level).
tarkin 08-22-05, 04:14 PM	As a touch attack, it is 7th level spell. As a save for 1/2 damage that is a solid 6th spell. I personally would make it 5th level and change it so that the Fort save negates the knockback damage entirely. Note, you should also specify what happens when they are up against a wall and are knocked into it. Unless you want to give them an additional Reflex save, I would just have them left prone, no damage.
