| xTimx12-30-06, 09:47 PM | i came to realize that you CAN NOT use the soulmeld: strong heart vest on yourself if you are using the hellfire blast. "if you do not have a Constitution score or are somehow immune to Constitution damage, you cannot use this ability." technically you would be immune to con damage if you use this soul meld. is this true???? |
| archerpwr12-30-06, 09:53 PM | wrong you are not immune- you just take one less point thats effectively immune if you take two points of ability damage you would take some damage so you are not actually immune this is like saying a barbarian is immune to damage with his dr 2/- when he fights something that keeps doing 2 damage. |
| xTimx12-30-06, 10:10 PM | wrong you are not immune- you just take one less point thats effectively immune if you take two points of ability damage you would take some damage so you are not actually immune this is like saying a barbarian is immune to damage with his dr 2/- when he fights something that keeps doing 2 damage. you are making a trade of essence... and if you give nothing by losing nothing you get no hellfire. |
| runestar12-30-06, 10:30 PM | You are not immune, you are merely taking 0 con damage, which is not the same as immunity. The game recognizes them as 2 completely separate scenarios/conditions. It smacks of cheese, but it works from a literal RAW perspective.:) |
| xTimx12-30-06, 10:42 PM | ehhh i'm still not buying it.. its like you are trying to light a stove with the gas turned off so you useless |
| runestar12-30-06, 11:14 PM | Well, to be fair, the ability makes no mention of it not working if the user does not actually take con damage. It only states that he cannot already be immune or lack a con score. its like you are trying to light a stove with the gas turned off so you useless Not quite. A more apt analogy would be a super-constitution which replenishes your blood supply as quickly as you donate it, within limits. That you are not weakened after donating blood does not change the fact that you have still donated your blood(lifeforce) for whatever reason...:P |
| Ariath Ska'Vhor12-31-06, 01:32 AM | It says the devils require payment. You're not trading in your life-force anymore, now you're letting the essentia make all the payments for you. The devil gets his due and you don't have to bleed for it. Edit: And it's not like it is without cost, you drop a feat for it. |
| Fallenangel35912-31-06, 02:06 AM | Remember... the soulmeld is absorbing the loss... as in, the loss is being taken by the soulmeld instead of you. See... the soulmeld is made out of well... souls... and devil's like souls... so I don't see a problem |
| xTimx12-31-06, 08:32 PM | that all depends exactly on how essentia is handled. I am still tempted to say because this is preventing it that it still would be a no. I would argue the essentia is working as a sheild not a bargaining chip. |
