Accoring to the PHB, SU abilities don't work in an antimagic field. Looking in the MM, DR is either a Su ability or an Ex ability. However, most creature with DR don't say wich one their DR is.

My question is, What DRs are considered a Su ability, and which are Ex?

In most circumstances, if the DR is overcome by non-magical weapons, like DR 10/piercing or DR 10/adamantine, then it is extraordinary. If the DR is overcome by magical weapons, like DR 10/Magic, DR 10/Epic, or DR 10/Good, then it is supernatural.

From the MM Errata:

DR X/slashing, piercing, or bludgeoning
should be (Ex)
• DR X/adamantine should be (Ex)
• DR X/-- should be (Ex)
• DR X/silver or cold iron should be (Su)
• DR X/magic should be (Su)
• DR X/chaotic, lawful, holy, or unholy
should be (Su)

All of those listings for Ex vs. Su ar listed in the main faq. What's not adressed is if someone with a subtype and DR/<alignment> (many angels and fiends) can penetrate DR/magic with their natural weapons. I think by default the way they're written they do not. Things like Vow of poverty imply that DR/alignment is an upgrade to DR X/Magic

Some odd situations that arise from this distinction: demon and devil claws don't penetrate fiendish, celestial, half fiend, or half celestial DR. Also non of those templates grant an aligned subtype so they in turn will have a hard time with foes of opposite alignment with aligned DR.

It is probably a good idea to not trust implications especialy of a non-core book, that many people agree are not well balanced. If a book comes right out and says something directly that is one thing, but implications just do not cut it in RAW conversation :)

I thought I was prety clear that RAW DR/magic and DR/alignment are not connected. But if you think all thoughts and rules in book of exalted deeds are invalid and inapropriate that's fine but the rest of the post which mentioned purely Core MM situations. For instance a Hound Arcon can bite and slam a Sucubus and penetrate her DR (he has the Good subtype and she has DR 10/cold iron or Good), but that same Hound Archon could NOT penetrate the DR of her ofspring (half fiend) with a normal mundane human or an even lesser evil creature like a fiendish dire ape since niether have DR/Evil nor a subtype let them penetrate DR/Magic. The only angelic/archon like creature able to penetrate fiendish and half fiend creature's DR is a Solar since it has DR/Epic. If that doesn't strike you as an oddity, that's fine, but to me it seems a bit off and worthy of comment (and IMC a house rule on how DR and subtypes work).
