| Tiamates10-16-06, 03:16 PM | Last night, my caster cast an quicken antimagic field spell that my purpose is to suppress a shapechager player back to normal and then use my standard action to breath or attack the suppressed player without sp, su, divine grace & even magic item help. (**my breath is EX ability) Questest 1) Since my caster is a huge size that is 3x3 in diagram, is my antimagic field area become 7x7 that is 10ft (2 spuare) outside to me or the spell is still effect in 10ft radius that is 4x4 in diagram(as DMG last page spell effect diagram)? If it is 4x4, that mean if you are C size, all the 10ft radius spell is not work for you???!!! Question 2) Anyway..my other question for antimagic field is, if now my shapechanger player is also a "H" size .....hmmm.... monster.....and my caster is H size, so if 4x4 for the spell is right, that mean if we contact each other, I have "0.5" square overlap to shapchanger player and he will have 0.5x0.5 body change back to human for a 9 square area. So what will happen? I mean, will he get back human str, dex, con, ability like divine grace? & the main point is what is his saving throw & hitpoint for me to attack? "0.5x0.5 is human with no su, sp & con modify the hp & Fort save + 2.5x3 monster with all su, sp & all str, dex, con modify the monster hp & save"? Since at 3.0 & up rules, there is no rule for us to "call shot" to attack or breath at "0.5x0.5" human parts as 2nd rules & avoid the "2.5x3" body part. Someone can help?   |

Just put the center of the spell radius to your front if you know you are walking toward your enemies. 2. Msot DMs I have talked with rule this way: Partially in an AMF is in an AMF. Just like being pregnant. There is no "kinda". |

| User512710-18-06, 12:09 AM | AMF is 10ft radius only. so its at max. it doesn't envolep you and give a 10ft buffer to your size. as well, if any part of a creature is affected by a spells area then the are treated as being completly in the spells area of effect. there is no such thing as being half way in the blast area of a fireball. and same thing for an AMF. if it touches you, you lose the magic powers until it no longer touches you. hope that helps. |
| Father Dale10-18-06, 11:26 AM | Just to note, as a Huge creature you would fit completely within the AMF. Its a 10ft radius centered on the caster. You take up a 3x3 square, whereas the spell would at least extend 4squares across. Granted, theres no clear way in the rules on how to position a spell that is centered on the caster (at least I don't recall). either its in the very center of the casters square, which would normally result in the radius extending only partially into other squares, or its placed on a corner of a central square of the caster. Either way, it still completely envelops a Huge creature. If you want to get more confusing, there could be issues of how high off the ground the spell is centered, particularly for larger casters. For instance, for a Huge (tall) creature, if an AMF is centered on the ground, then it wouldn't reach to the head of the Huge creature. If its centered in the center of the creatures body, then it might not affect small or smaller creatures that would otherwise fall within the radius of the spell, as they might be below the full extent of the spell's area. Fun stuff, huh? |
