#1: Are antimagic fields strong enough to extend onto the Ethereal Plane? For instance, if someone is using ethereal jaunt, and they walk into an antimagic field, do they become material again, or must the field be sourced in the Ethereal Plane?

#2: How do antimagic fields interact with polymorph effects? More specifically, is any type of shapechange anti-magicable, or only temporary ones, or only spell-based ones, or only dispellable ones, or what? I ask this because it makes a difference as to whether the magic holds the object in a different form, meaning that if magic merely altered the shape (and perhaps de-altered it later), wouldn't that fall under the same classification as golems?

1. No. No spell reaches into another plane, even the ethereal or astral, unless it explicitly says so.

2. Walk into an AMF and you revert to your true form.

Or if its a force spell used on the Material Plane.

Or if its a force spell used on the Material Plane. You offer this as if it is a contradiction. It is not. This is the inherent nature of all [force] spells, and is implicit in any spell that explicitly has the [force] descriptor.

In the case of etheral jaunt, I believe that if the duration runs out or you try to dismiss the spell while you are in the AMF, you reappear outside the field, but otherwise, I don't think the spell has anything to do with any other plane since it doesn't specifically mention anything with regards to affecting other planes, as Seeker indicated.

As far as polymorph is concerned, the AMF suppresses any magical effect (spell, spell-like ability or supernatural ability) with a duration greater than instantaneous, so spells like baleful polymorph with duration of permanent are suppressed while in the field. Spells with a duration of instantaneous are not suppressed by the field as far as I know, which falls in line with what you said about the AMF not affecting golems. The magic for creating golems has an instantaneous duration but creates a permanent effect.

From the SRD on "Etherealness" (Emphasis mine)

A force effect originating on the Material Plane extends onto the Ethereal Plane, so that a wall of force blocks an ethereal creature, and a magic missile can strike one (provided the spellcaster can see the ethereal target). Gaze effects and abjurations also extend from the Material Plane to the Ethereal Plane.

As Antimagic Field is an abjuration, yes someone using Ethereal Jaunt walking into the area of an Antimagic Field becomes material again.

Oh wow. Good call. That's what I get for not having read the handbook in a while.

Thanks. I was a bit unclear on those.

That means that if I get PCs that love ethereal jaunt, a small little AMF in the walls might keep them from getting by.

There's always the Transdimensional Spell feat from Complete Divine.

Lafing Cat, I thank you for adding to my knowledge.
This is something I had glossed over far too many times. :tiphat:

It would also do damage, as they would become material inside a solid wall.
