Just an idea. I find greater dispel magic to be not effective enough and mordekaines(?) disjunction too effective (destroys everything)

Antimagic Skin
7th level wiz/sorc
Abjuration
range: close(25+5/2lvls)
Will negates
duration 1d6 rounds
A shimmering field envelopes the targets body, confering a personal range antimagic field. The target is rendered both immune and incapable of using all spells and spell like abilities that allow spell resistence, supernatural abilities, as well as magical sources of damage. All magic items used by or on the subject are treated as mondane items without ability for the duration of the spell, though nonmagical properties, like masterwork, still work normally. All magical effects on the character are negated for the duration of the spell, though they may resume when Antimagic Skin ends.

Magic Reflux
8th level wiz/sorc
casting time: 1 action
range: close (25+5/2lvls)
Abjuration
area: 20ft burst
duration: instantaneous or 1d4 rounds
A forceful bolt springs from the casters finger, dispelling all active magic in an area or upon a target, while doing damage to the welders. If targeted, Magic Reflux instantly dispells all active spells on the target. All magical items and supernatural abilities on or used by that creature are inneffective for 1d4 rounds. The target recieves damage equal to the highest caster level amongst the dispelled spells. Damage is treated as unidentifiable magical discharge.
If the spell is used as an area effect, dispel the highest level spell upon each creature in the area (if a summoned creature is within the area, do not consider the effects upon the summoned creature. Instead dispell the summoned creature), starting with the closest to the center of the effect, repeating the process until the total of spell levels dispelled equals 1d4/2lvls or there are no spells with low enough level to dispel. Each creature within the area takes damage equal to the highest caster level amongst spells they had dispelled from them. Treat the damage as undetermined magical discharge.

Both stirdy spells, maybe too powerful. What do you people think?

Magic Reflux: should have a Caster Level check.

Magic Reflux: should have a Caster Level check. Mordenkaines disjunction is a level nine spell, only one level higher, and there is no check. Disjunction can also destroys items, and potentially artifacts, while this spell suspends them. A level check shouldn't be necessary at that level. Maybe there should be a will save for each item affected, but that gets tedious, especially if the caster uses it more then once in a combat. For ease and, to some extent, power, I thought it best to just suspend the items for 1d4 rounds. The spell is basically a hybrid of dispell magic and mordenkaines disjunction with some damage potential (however minor).

Antimagic Skin: see Antimagic Aura in Magic of FaerunI don't have that book, so could someone fill me in (lvl, duration, effect)?

I couldn't agree more. The antimagic is reaaally nerfy in core D&D, until you get to disjunction which is, in fact, obviously an epic-level (read: will never make an appearance in any campaign I run) spell. Although that doesn't mean that its effects other than Total Item Kill aren't reasonable and balanced.

Lots of people have Simbul's reaction, I've noticed. If it fits your worldview that antimagic never automatically works, then fine. I am by now convinced that it's possible to put in automatic antimagic and balance it...after all, antimagic spells are always a negative reaction to something your opponent does...you could quite possibly be disintegrating his sorry nether regions instead.

Plus anything that spares me rolling yet another die can't be all bad.
