Inigo Carmine 07-11-05, 10:20 PM	Is there any spell that allows someone to summon some relatively low level (CR 1-3 each) undead? Preferably something in the core rules; Divine is preffered, but arcane will do. In a game I'm running next sunday I'm going to have my party stumble onto a BBEG who was not expecting them. The fact that he isn't expecting it is the reason I was hoping for using something other than animate dead/create undead (those require prepared corpses, and I want this to happen in the first round). If nothing else, I can make the corpses prepared ahead of time.

You might have the enemy only use animate dead on one corpse (he can place the onyx in its mouth as one action), thats pretty much it. if they dont have to be undead then try something like summon monster, thats all i can think of.

ajmastrean 07-12-05, 09:34 AM	Use Animate Object on bodies to make them appear as Undead...watch the Cleric blast all his Turnings away and everyone pull out bludgeoning weapons.
tarkin 07-12-05, 10:48 AM	Use Lesser Planar Ally (4th level spell) to Call a Ravid, and have them animate Object on the dead bodies. Costs you a some gold, but can be done at 7th level instead instead of 11th.
questionc 07-12-05, 02:25 PM	There really isn't any way to do this the way you're asking without houseruling. Undead are created, Outsiders are summoned (Druids break the rules). If you do want to create undead in the same manner as Summon Monster, then as long as you keep the CRs correct, you should be fine... Summon Undead I - This spell functions like summon monster I, except that you can summon one Undead creature from the following list. Skeleton, Human Warrior Zombie, Human Commoner Zombie, Kobold CR 1/2 Undead Summon Undead II - This spell functions like summon undead I, except that you can summon one creature from the 2nd-level list or 1d3 creatures of the same kind from the 1st-level list. Ghoul Ghoul, Lacedon Skeleton, Wolf Zombie, Troglodyte CR 1 Undead Summon Undead III - This spell functions like summon undead I, except that you can summon one creature from the 3rd-level list, 1d3 creatures of the same kind from the 2nd-level list, or 1d4+1 creatures of the same kind from the 1st-level list. Skeleton, Owlbear Zombie, Bugbear CR 2 Undead Summon Undead VI - This spell functions like summon undead I, except that you can summon one creature from the 4th-level list, 1d3 creatures of the same kind from the 3rd-level list, or 1d4+1 creatures of the same kind from a lower-level list. Allip Ghoul, Ghast Shadow Skeleton, Troll Wight Zombie, Ogre CR 3 Undead
