Any Spells With Full-Round Casting Time? [Archive] - Wizards Community

07-23-06, 12:28 AM Spells with a 1 round casting time require a full-round action, but the caster is considered to be casting the spell not only during his turn but until the start of his next turn. So are there any spells that take only a full-round action (i.e. more than a standard action but less than 1 round) to cast?

No. A casting time of a full-round action (as metamagic spells have for spontaneous casters) requires the whole of the caster's turn, but comes into effect immediately upon the end of that turn. Only a spell with a casting time of "one round" requires not only the caster's full turn but all initiatives after that until just before his next turn.

That's exactly right, Merestil! Apparently the only casting that takes a full-round action but less than 1 round is the spontaneous casting of a spell with a metamagic feat applied.
