Guys,

My players give me an intriguing question : A Bard Player, with acess to her "Cure Light wounds" spell creates a scroll, saying thatīs an Arcane Scroll of "cure Light wounds", my other player, a wizard on, wants to put that scroll in his wizardīs spell book, gaining acesses to that spell.

Is that possible ? If, not, why ?

Waiting for Answer,
Thank.

Not possible.

Because it is not on the Wizard/Sorceror spell list.

Just as a Cleric can not learn or cast Paladin or Druid Spells, Wizards can not learn spells from the Bard list.

Also note, the Wizard can not even use the scroll made by a bard, without using UMD (which is not a class skill for him).

No, because it's not on his Class' Spell List.

tarkin beat me to it.

Try From the Spell Comp.:
3rd lvl Necro Spell Healing Touch
7th lvl Synostodweomer

or take the feat that adds a domains spells to your spellbook

Arcane Disciple. From Complete divine. For the price of one feat, you can add a domains spells to your spell book.

I did this, and then began panicing, when I noticed my wisdom was sucky. I had to get a boosting item, just to be able to cast the higher level spells... Shame they aren't based off of intelligence... :)

so a wizard needs to have the spell on his/her spell list to copy it? What if a wizard took the feat to get cure light wounds then gave a scroll of it to another wizard, can the other wizard then copy it? It is from another wizard, but not on wizard B's spell list.

The second wizard still has the same limitation as the first. Without the feat to use divine spells (and thereby increase his spell list) he\she cannot cast or even use the spell. Cure Light Wounds is not on the Wiz\Sorc spell list. I don't even know if the 'Arcane Disciple' feat would let a wizard scribe those spells (DM Call IMHO)

Its not really a game logic so much as a game balance thing. Wizards have to go through hoops to cast curing spells. Arcane disciple is about the simplest way to get limited healing. Another way to do it is to simply take a level of Cleric. Wouldn't get you full healing but it would allow you to use wands etc.... Although you'd always be a 1st level cleric for that purpose.

Of course it would. He still casts the spells as a wizard. If he hasn't scribed them, how else is he going to memorise them?

It says you may prepare to cast them as arcane spells. It uses wisdom not intelligence. It limits how many of them you can cast (only 1 per spell level). I think you could make a case that they are divinely prepared domain spells cast as arcane.

A wizard might get them from meditating on prayers not from the formulaic spellbook. I could understand a ruling that says he\she could not scribe them normally.

The wizard is free to scribe a Cure spell into his book, or even to scribe a scroll of it.

That does NOT place the Cure spell on the general "Wizard/Sorceror List".

No wizard that did not take the Arcane Disciple (or similar feat) would be able to use that scroll.
