Arcane casting newbie [Archive] - Wizards Community

12-30-06, 05:04 PM I'm playing an arcane caster for the first time. I am a level 5 sorc. and a level 5 Mage of the Arcane Order.

I need help selecting my spells known. I'm trying to stay away from purely damage spells (although I'm taking magic missle and fireball), I think we'll be fine as a party on those. We have a minotaur fighter, gnome rouge, and a cleric of Illmater. I'm looking for some advice on spells that could be useful out of combat.

I'm all ears for your suggestions and explanations of why you chose those spells.
