| tremyen04-01-07, 04:02 AM | One player came up with a doubt. If a bard writes a Cure Light Wounds scroll, a wizard could read the scroll and cast the spell. If the wizard can read the scroll, technically he could write the spell on his spellbook. Is this correct? I have already posted this here but it has disappeared and I could not read all the answers. Thanks in advance. |

| Tichondrus04-01-07, 04:58 AM | tremyen: be niceand tell your friend that Tichondrus says s/he rocks. Now concenering the question, no, wizards made sure that the mage was actually not a master of the arcane but more like a hamster of the arcane. The only way a wizard could cast a spell from a scroll (besides UMDevice) is for the spell to be in the list of spells of the class. A cute little trick there to avoid that is either making a wand of healing (50 charges bla bla) or even nastier...get one level of bard (multiclassing... ew). So, no, your friend might be a really cool, imaginative and awesome person, but wizards alredy said "No, originality is a bad word" |
| enlightened04-01-07, 07:35 AM | If a bard writes a Cure Light Wounds scroll, a wizard could read the scroll and cast the spell. Wizards do not have access to ALL arcane spells, just MOST arcane spells. There are many bard and wu jen spells that wizards can't get. The same holds true for clerics. They don't get ALL divine spells, just MOST divine spells. There are many paladin, druid, and ranger spells that they don't get. |

A wiazard cannot cast a cure spell from a scroll, even if it is arcane, because it is not on the wizard spell list.If the wizard can read the scroll, technically he could write the spell on his spellbook. Is this correct?Yes. IF he can use the scroll, he can use it to scribe a spell into his spellbook. But he cannot use this scroll. |
