Hi --

3.0 Arcane Eye states the following:

The character must concentrate to use the eye. If the character does not concentrate, the eye is inert until the character again concentrates. The powers of the eye cannot be enhanced by other spells or items (though the character can use magic to improve the character's own eyesight). The character is subject to any gaze attack met by the eye. A successful dispel magic cast on the character or the eye ends the spell. With respect to blindness, magical darkness, and other phenomena that affect vision, the arcane eye is considered an independent sensory organ of the character's.

My question is as follows: Is is possible to augment the eye's ability to see things by improving the caster's eyesight?

The way i read the wording is, the caster can improve his own eyesight, but the eye does not get improved. Is this a correct interpretation? Or when the caster (say) casts darkvision on himself, the eye gets that too.

Thanks

And now for my next question ;)

What does "sense" mean in the spell description:

Any creature with Intelligence 12 or higher can sensethe arcane eye by making a Scry check or an Intelligence check (DC 20). Spells such as detect scrying can also detect the eye.

Do one see it? Smell it? Taste it? Does one simply know one is being watched but has no idea from where?

The spells seems awfully overpowered for a 4th level spell. It can more is less travel several miles in the allotted time. It is invisible. You can augment its vision. You can only harm it with dispel magic. The 3.5 version effectively remove the ability to detect it without magic; and name me only place in the world that will be airtight to mice (aside from a wizard's tower or king's palace).
