Ok so im building a Arh and im having some trouble finding a good build for him Im going wizzard 3 / druid 3 / Arh 4. (Starting at 10th lvl) I have 20 wis and int so stats arent a problem. Going with human and a dire hawk animal companion / familiar for touch attacks. Gave him fly-by attack and diving charge to make touch attacks (with my spells) without being hit. Im going to be using him as an air born mount as well. Feats so far are...
1; Extended spell (for buffs and what not)
Human; Empower spell.
3) Natural spell. Casting spells in animal form.
6) Blindsight, ignore darkness, invisibility, gave attacks, blindness, blur and all kinds of stuff.
9) Spell penetration; because my caster level will be a bit lower in both divine and arcane I got this to minimize resists.

I can use light armor ignoring spell failure, and ill be in animal form during combat so melee combat will most likely take place for me. So melee touch attack shouldn’t be too hard to pull off, but the thing is I don’t know what arcane spells to take... so many of them seem replicated by divine magic it would be a waste to put them in my spell book. Which arcane spells have no divine counterpart? Im mostly looking for high damage spells, or potent illusion magic. Ill be taking persistent spell at 15 fyi. Thanks!

Consider the feat Druidic Theurgy from Dragon 325. It will allow you to add your caster levels together for any spell that is on both your wizard and druid lists. Your druid spells will be CL 14. Not too bad.

Next, consider Alternative Source Spell from the same issue. It will allow you to prepare any of your spells as either divine or arcane, but at one caster level lower. Since now you can make your arcane spells druid spells, your caster level will be 14 again.

With practiced spellcaster for each class, you can improve that to CL 20 (10 for each).

At least, that's how I understand it to work. If I'm right, that will make for some fun spellcasting.

These are the spells one of my players is using with her own arcane hierophant.

1ST-LEVEL WIZARD SPELLS
Silent Image, Mage Armor*, Charm Person, Color Spray, Disguise Self, Reduce Person, Alarm, Benign Transposition, Ventriloquism, Magic Aura, Grease, Friendly Face, Unseen Servant, Blood Wind, Ray of Clumsiness, Chill Touch.

2ND-LEVEL WIZARD SPELLS
Minor Image, Invisibility, Mirror Image, Web, Chain of Eyes, Minor Image, False Life*, Wraithstrike, Mindless Rage, Sonic Weapon.

3ND-LEVEL WIZARD SPELLS
Enhance Familiar*, Major Image, Dispel Magic, Invisibility Sphere, Clairaudience/Clairvoyance, Heroism, Tongues, Slow.

4TH-LEVEL WIZARD SPELLS
Black Tentacles, Greater Invisibility, Confusion, Hallucinatory Terrain, Arcane Eye, Wall of Fire, Charm Monster, Defenestrating Sphere, Bright Worms.

*Cast those on the familiar/animal pet.

She took these feats (at 12th level):
Companion Spell Bond (or something like that)
Practiced Spellcaster (Druid and Wizard)
Fell Drain
Natural Spell
Animal Bond

Companion Spell Bond allows her to buff both herself and her familiar with a single spell slot and it extends the range of the share spell ability.

Fell Drain is the wickedness of the build. During tough fights, she casts fell drain chill touch on her familiar. Each hit deals another 1d6 points of damage plus a negative level. Combined with Wraithstrike (extended with metamagic rods), her dog's power attack and haste, the blasted thing is doing nearly 100 points of damage per round.

I'm not sure they're all worth it but she's having fun with her spells and she's far from redicioulous compared to others in the party.

Ok so im building a Arh and im having some trouble finding a good build for him Im going wizzard 3 / druid 3 / Arh 4.Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't Arcane Heirophant require a base attack bonus of +4?

Yes it does take bab of 4,but my DM goes by bab% and druid 3 wizz 3 gives me a bab of 3.75, so if i give up like 5 skill points he'll let me take it at 7th lvl.

Wouldn't being a beguiler be equally dutiful with the current spell selection? A feat would be needed to really get use out of a familiar, but you also gain trapfinding, making the character more useful.
Thoughts?

Wow this is an old thread :D.

At that time we didn't have the PHB 2 so wizard was the only option we had. She took those spells mostly because the party also has another wizard and a gnome illusionist. So she took spells the other two wizards don't use too often.

I like your idea of using a beguiler. A human arcane hierophant with Able Learner would be pretty decent.

In any event, the arcane hierophant is not an optimal choice for a character.

ummm why did you chose Natural Spell? you don't have ANY Wild Shapeing at all. Arcane Heirophant only advances Wild Shape if you already have it, so unless you go into Arcane Heirophant at Druid 5, natural spell does nothing for you.

The description of the arcane hierophant's wild shape ability is kind of messed up.

It says you don't get the wild shape ability if you didn't have it, but the example explains that a druid 4/arcane hierophant 3 can wild shape as a 7th level druid.

So I ruled she could wild shape. It doesn't change much anyways, she only uses it for scouting.
