| WinDReiN03-29-07, 09:44 AM | With Detect magic you can detect the strength and location of each aura in 3rd round. With Arcane S you can detect the same without concentration & automaticaly. Which leads to the conclusion that hiden or invisible creatures can be seen by this spell. Non Detection provides protection. Agreed? |
| Gold Katana03-29-07, 10:48 AM | Hidden - no. Invisible - yes. |
| Bedevere03-29-07, 10:51 AM | Seen? No. Noticed? Yes. You know there is an aura of magic in the square. You still cant actually see them, but you can target the square they are in, with any attacks you throw off suffering a 50% miss chance, of course. |
| Seeker9503-29-07, 11:09 AM | Use AS to know where to throw an area effect spell. Do not use AS to make an attack roll. |

| Seeker9503-29-07, 11:57 AM | Actually, you can cast True Strike to negate the miss chance entirely...Doesn't change the validity of my advice. :P |
| CantripN03-29-07, 12:09 PM | Doesn't change the validity of my advice. :P Well, your advice does tend to be good, yes. I was just adding to it. ;) |
| WinDReiN03-29-07, 12:44 PM | Hidden - no. Invisible - yes. For both hidden & invisible. They can't hide magical auras. So you can target them with weapons & spells and have 50% miss chance or just area spells? |
| Dragonteuthis03-29-07, 01:19 PM | They can't hide magical auras. Rules quote on that? |
| tarkin03-29-07, 01:31 PM | He was wrong. You can hide magic auras: 1. Both spells operate on Line of Sight, so if you are not in LOS, (because you are behind a tree), then they do not detect you. You know the location and power of all magical auras within your sight. If the items or creatures bearing the auras are in line of sight, you ... An argument can be made that Detect Magic (but not Arcane Sight) will tel you the number of magic aura even counting those not in los, but they will not be able to tell your location at all. They just know that SOMEWHERE in the area are some more magical auras, that they can not see. 2. Each round, you can turn to detect magic in a new area. The spell can penetrate barriers, but 1 foot of stone, 1 inch of common metal, a thin sheet of lead, or 3 feet of wood or dirt blocks it. Thin sheet of lead does it, even if they have line of sight to you. Coat your magic items. |
| Iver Gearsham03-29-07, 02:27 PM | Thin sheet of lead does it, even if they have line of sight to you. Coat your magic items. Or use the Nystul's Magic Aura spell It can hide auras of items it is first level spell it lasts for days per lvl. It is a must have for groups/rogues who want to Ghost the enemy instead of blundering into every monster. |
