thalious 11-14-03, 05:26 AM	Drax’s Gem Merging Spell. Transmutation Level: 7 Effect: One or more Gems with a value of least 100 GP each that can be shaped or merged. Casting Time: Varies Duration: Instant This spell when cast enables the caster to fuse and shape like Gems together into one larger Gem or even shape the Gems into varies forms. Gemcutting, Artistic Ability, Design, and other Skills directly affect the success of this spell. Some object made from Gems thus far have been some Gem Arrowheads, Figurines, Dinner Sets, even Shoes. The value of these works varies upon skill and quality of Gems used. This art form has yet to be widely accepted or considered a legitimate art, some have even called it forgery. This art and spell was brought about during attempts to make a Gem to Trap the Soul of a bitter Foe. Gems that have been merged are worth less 10-30% less than total value of all the gems merged. This % chance goes down by 1% each for each caster level. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Any comments or input welcomed.
Bloodtide_the_Red 11-14-03, 07:29 AM	Um, 7th level? A 7th level spell that alters the shap of gems? That looks a little high level. And you don't want to limit it to 'gems of 100gp' any way. There's no reason. Why can't I merge and change the shape of my two 50gp Agni Magni gems. And casting time-1 round is fine The spell can not make 100,000 gp gem items, right? You still need the skills to craft the item..the spell just speeds it up right? BT

This is essentially the same as the fabricate spell (Wiz/Sor 5) but limited to gemstone material. I would probably drop this to 3rd level personally.

Well, in both cases, you have to have enough raw materials to make the item in question and both require skill to make something complex. With Drax's Gem Merging Spell, you can create any item out of the gemstone(s); but you are limited to working with gemstones. With Fabricate, you can only make items normally made from the raw materials used, but you are not limited to one form of material. Maybe 3rd was a little too low... how about 4th?
