| TelinArtho12-13-04, 12:22 PM | This is an item I am thinking of modifying for one of my players. I'm looking to make it cost around the same as a Quiver of Ehlonna - but be much more specific. The quiver has three compartments - one holds 60 arrows, one holds 18 javelins and the last holds 6 spears. The modification I want to make is to have three compartments, but have them all be for arrows. This is mostly because the character in question wouldn't likely carry around javelins or spears, but needs to carry an excessessive number of arrows. So, if I were to make the modification, and made them all the same size - 60 arrows a piece - would anyone argue that it would cost more? How much more? As to why I chose to keep it as 3 separate compartments - it is so he can categorize his different arrow types. Let me know what you think. /d |

The javelins/spears compartments are just longer and narrower than the arrows space. I normally allow the archers in my campaign to determine when they purchase the quiver how they'd like the slots alloted -- and once the decision is made, it sticks. So I wouldn't charge more for the modified quiver. |

Just make all three compartments the same size, and say the differant amounts they can hold are because of the increasingly large size of the javelins and spears. Instead of saying one holds 60 arrows, one holds 18 javelins, the other 6 spears, just say that all three are capable of holding 60 arrows. Or that all three can hold 18 javelins, or 6 spears. |

| psionichamster12-13-04, 02:59 PM | a quiver with 3 compartments of 6 spears apiece would be wonderful. forget javelins for ranged combat...throw, close, throw, draw, CHARGE... or buy 3...1 of each triple comopartment quiver... hamster |
| evangelion101012-13-04, 05:31 PM | I'm not sure of size or anything, but a stack of javelins would seem a good deal bigger than a quiver of arrows... In either case, its doubt it'd be game breaking if it held 500 arrows... you can still only fire them so fast, and most people don't mark arrows down one by one....plus they are very cheap, so it mostly just adds hassle to the game... |
| solbergb12-13-04, 07:20 PM | Actually arrows are like 4' long for a longbow. Javelins are only a little bigger, and mostly in diameter. Look in the PHB for drawings. So the idea that a bag of 60 arrows takes roughly the volume of 18 javelins isn't too far off. That extra foot of distance and extra diameter of the javelins could well add up to roughly 3x as many arrows crammed into the same extradimensional space...if the quiver was built to do that in the first place. |
| Edymnion12-13-04, 08:27 PM | Actually arrows are like 4' long for a longbow.Where did you hear that? My flight arrows are only 2.5' long, and I've got a longbow. An arrow is typically the same length as the arm of the bow it's shot from, so a 4' arrow would need to be shot from an 8' long bow! Not to mention that a normal human's arms aren't long enough to draw a 4' arrow, it makes me rather suspicious... |
| [GSV] Kirstar12-14-04, 03:40 AM | thats right, a flight arrow for a long bow is around 30 inchs long |
