Now, my DM is a strange one. He likes 2ed, but over time grew fond of the opposed roll system of 3.0. The result: a 2ed/3.0/3.5 Hybrid which is incredibly fun to play.
Now, my PC is a homebrewed class by him that I helped make. It's called an Archivist and it's a lot like the one Heroes of Horror has, just that it can learn ANY spell, from ANY source, even Arcane. Since we are using 2ed, I get limited spells known by repertoire, so I need to choose my spells wisely. Care to suggest a spell list?

Example:
1st level: Magic Missile, Produce Flame, Entangle, Cure Light Wounds, Goodberry, Divining Rod, Feathery Flyer, Scholar's Touch, Master's Touch, Spider Climb, Nahal's Reckless Dweomer.

Some spells are 2ed, some 3.5e - (Spider Climb is a 1st level spell in 2ed).
Exotic, but useful spells are good (Golden Boom instead of Fireball. Conjuration, No SR, Physical Damage, A blast of gold coins.)

I had an idea for this kind of class, but I wanted to make up for the versitility. I never wrote up the class or anything, but I decided that I would make where any spell that appeared on multiple lists would be considered the higher of the two lists.

As such, identify would be considered a 2nd level spell (because in a cleric domain it appears at 2nd level) even though it is a 1st level spell in the wizards/sorcerer spell list.

Small things like that can go a long way to balancing this class.

Well, since we are using 2ed XP, he can modify how much it takes to level this guy. As it is, he takes about one and a half (X1.5) times more XP than a Wizard.
