Can an Archmage use his Mastery of Elements to change the damage type of a spell when creating a wand?

Can he use his Mastery of Shaping to shape a spell cast by a wand? Can he shape a spell with Mastery of Shaping when creating a wand?

There's a FAQ/Ruling/RotG on the Archmage somewhere that answers this.
IIRC, only the Spell Power ability works, I'll look for it.

EDIT:Got it, main FAQWhen you use a staff, you use your own relevant ability
score and feats to determine the save DCs for the spells you
cast from the staff, and you can use your own caster level
for those spells too, if it’s higher than the staff’s caster level.
So, suppose you’re an archmage. Can you use the
archmage’s high arcana abilities, such as mastery of
elements or mastery of shaping with a staff?

The only high arcana ability that works on a spell cast from
a staff is spell power, which increases the archmage’s caster
level.Hmm...this only applies for use of a wand, not manufacture.

I know Mastery of Shaping is out, as adding class abilities to items doesn't work that way.
Mastery of Elements is trickier....I'd believe no, but Energy Substitution clearly works, so I'm not completely certain.
If it did, I'd argue you select a damage type on creation, not when used.

a fair answer is yes you can use elements but only on creation. so you can create your wand of cold fireballs.

Anyone else willing to give their input?

Not sure how much other input is out there.

As a general rule, special abilities don't apply to spell trigger/spell completion items.
The FAQ adds Spell Power and only spell power applies to staves, so there's little more to discuss.

If you want to make house rules to allow more flexibility, I'd encourage you do so, just keep an eye on balance, but the actual RAW is fairly clear here.

Not that it counts for anything officially, but I'd rule you could apply Mastery of Shaping or Mastery of Elements to an item you make, but I'd probably enfore a cost of some sort on Mastery of Shaping, as well as raising the cost of the item made by 50% for Mastery of Shaping.
Something along the lines of using more charges for the benefit (Let's say 2, instead of 1...).

Mastery of Elements I'd allow to be picked on creation for free, or at the same ruling as for Mastery of Shaping...
