Are elemental summonings worth it overall? [Archive] - Wizards Community

10-29-06, 04:46 PM Trying to decide on wether or not I want to choose the Air domain of a Cleric of mine to get those extra summon slots of Air Elementals

10-29-06, 04:57 PM Remember you can get a wizard to use Planar Binding on air elementals, to do something like: sit in that corner for one minute. Then you can use Rebuke Air Elemental, so no need to summon them! :)

10-29-06, 08:45 PM Not sure about a cleric for that purpose. I do, however, very much enjoy summoning elementals with both my sorcerer and my druid.

10-30-06, 03:11 AM Earth elemental are the best in combat. If you need air support, then air elementals.

Clerics have better domains than air. Taker war+travel or something like that

10-30-06, 03:19 AM Or take some nature god that has all four elemental domains and take Contemplative to get more than just two of them. I don't know if you get one or two bonus domains with that PrC, but having all four gives a nice character concept, alternatively there was a cleric variant in one of the first 3.5 Dragon magazines that got something like 5 or 6 domains, which would also be nice combining all four elemental domains with the summoning domain.

I personally think they're all pretty descent, with earth elementals being army killers starting at large size. (two slam attacks, extra reach, great cleave, damage reduction of 5) Same goes for large air elementals with that huricane thing they do, now that messes people up :)
