| Ryll10-23-03, 04:00 AM | If this is the same as 3.0, then you may only use a wand if the spell is in your list of "spells you will get" so a wizard could only use a wand of cure lights if he has some class, specialty or ability that would oneday get the cure light spell - or if he were a creature or template that could cast the cure light spell. Likewise a cleric could only use a wand of magic missiles if he could cast that spell for some reason. |

A wizard cannot use a wand or scroll of Cure Light Wounds. A bard can use a wand or arcane scroll of Cure Light Wounds, but not a divine scroll. A cleric can use a wand or divine scroll of Cure Light Wounds, but not an arcane scroll. You can get some interesting results when you have two people cooperating to create a scroll. A Cleric with the Scribe Scroll feat always produces divine scrolls. But he can scribe a scroll of any spell that either a/ he prepares, or b/ someone cooperating with him prepares. So if a Sorcerer provides a Magic Missile, the Cleric can scribe a divine scroll of Magic Missile... which can't actually be used by anyone except with the Use Magic Device skill. If a Cleric provides a Cure Light Wounds spell to a Wizard with the Scribe Scroll feat, you end up with an arcane scroll of Cure Light Wounds, which neither the provider of the spell (the Cleric) nor the scriber of the spell (the Wizard) can use... but which a Bard could use, since it's an arcane scroll of a spell on the Bard list. -Hyp. |
| marshallq10-23-03, 04:47 AM | So a fighter/duelist would not be able to use a wand of invisibility etc. ? |
| Ryll10-23-03, 04:59 AM | If they get the USE MAGIC DEVICE feat/ability...then they can try. Otherwise, nope. |
