| Klink02-02-05, 09:37 AM | Hello, If I'm casting Web which has an area of 20 foot radius burst... What happens if the room I'm casting it in cannot hold the entire area of the spell? Does the spell work at all? Would the web be denser and therefore make movement even more difficult? What if the room is large enough to hold the entire area, but I aim the spell into a corner or against a wall? Will the web "fold over" on itself? or Can you not do this at all? If I cast a spell that has a 20 foot cone and I want to use the template provided in the Dungeon Master's guide do I have to place the template "perfectly" in line with the grid on my battle grid, or can I lay the template in such a way that it lays "off center" of individual squares and thereby capture more creatures in the cone? THANKS! Peas. Owt. |

Would the web be denser and therefore make movement even more difficult? No. That's just opening up a whole can of worms. What if the room is large enough to hold the entire area, but I aim the spell into a corner or against a wall? Will the web "fold over" on itself? Not with any benefit or penalty or change to the spell effects. or Can you not do this at all? Go for it. But it has no in game effect. You must lay it to fit the squares. That is the purpose of the templates, to avoid debates on whether or not a creature was affected by an effect. |

THe web takes up as much space in the line of effect as possible, so if you shoot a web spell into a 10ft. by 10ft. room with a single door the room would be filled plus 10ft. out the door. No, if you choose a corner of a room, in a 20ft. by 20ft. room if you choose to but the spell in the corner you will only effect 10ft. of the room. You must keep the cone centered on squares, you can not put spell-effects in half-squares. |

If I remember web is a 20 foot radius, so shooting in a corner of a 20 x 20 room would still hit the room. Now if the room was 30 x 30 it would only take 20 feet from the corner it was targetted in. |
