Heya, got 2 quick questions for y'all:

1. Does anyone know of an enchantment or modification that can be added to existing armor that could reduce armor's type from heavy to medium or light?

And 2. how exactly does improving bashing shields work? If I have a +1 bashing shield with shield spikes, do I have to enchant the spikes too? If I want to give it, say, frost, how much would it cost me? Would I have to give it +1 in attack bonus before I can add it on? Or would the +1 enhancement from bashing start that off for me? (etc. etc.) It's very confusing.

Thanks!

1) I know of no existing magical ability that does this, although if somebody designed one it would be aprecciated.

2) I don't know the exact rules but I would say that you do not have to additionally enchant the spikes, but you would have to pay the standard weapon cost to make them 'frosted'.

Hope this helps

1. No.

2. In regard to shields: a Shield +3 has only an enhancement bonus to its AC, and if used for bashing, it counts as non-magical weapon. It has been ruled, though, that you can enchant a shield as a weapon in addition to its AC enhancement. If you do so, the spikes are part of it, and dont need an extra enchantment. Adding elemental damage is also possible and costs the usual price. Since a shield is a defensive item, you are probably going to pay the increased prices for powers on the wrong kind of item.

1. No enchantment, but crafting metal armor out of mithral will lower it from heavy to medium, or from medium to light.

Halfweight, from Underdark. It's +3 (or +2 if used on illithidwrought armor, also from the same book)

Actually, if you have a bashing shield, it gives the shield a +1 enhancement bonus to attacks and damage... so do you think I could build off of that? (i.e. to make it a +2 enhancement, pay another 6k)
