| DrakeRunner01-01-04, 01:03 AM | Had an idea for magic armor... I'm imagining a pair of metal plates (foot long, 8 inches wide. Hey, most of my ideas are visualized first.) on each shoulder. In combat, they'd provide a defensive bonus as they fly out and block attacks (seeing as how they are magic metal plates). With a command word, they would arrange themselves and grow until they form 4 walls around the square the user is standing in. I dunno what kind of protections this can afford, but I'm thinking at least enough to protect against a cave in. I want to know what you guys think this should count as, and what kind of numbers to use. |

This sound basicaly like animated shield, just with two parts. I would suggest a +2 shield bonus. With a command word, they would arrange themselves and grow until they form 4 walls around the square the user is standing in. As written the top would be open and that would not be useful in a cave in :D. It's kind of a cross between Iron wall and Sanctuary Clr 1. A couple of suggestion: the person inside would not be able to see so add a light in side. They would need to make listen check to hear whats happening. if someone hit it, it would be like standing in a giant bell and that would hurt the ears. so have the only the metal silenced. hitting it makes no noise. The benefit would be 100% cover on all sides. A quick retreat to cast some healing spell or other actions to improve your self. I like the idea, but i'm no good at writing up magic item. Would anybody else like to try? DMB |
